Why you cannot afford to miss this life-changing event...
Homosexuality is one of the most controversial theological subjects of our day. But unlike atonement theory, or the nature of Communion, this issue doesn't just deal with ideas and concepts that reside in the ethereal realm of theory. It deals with real people who are significantly impacted by what the Church teaches on this issue. It has proven for far too many to literally be a matter of life and death.
Unfortunately, not only has the leadership (pastors, teachers, etc.) not taken this topic seriously enough, but even the laity are often disengaged from any serious theological work. Usually, we're content to just sit in the pew and either 1) accept whatever the pastor tells us, or 2) just ignore the parts we disagree with, never realizing that our very presence in such spaces continues to validate and support that message. And in the meantime, people are hurting, families are being ripped apart... We must do better!
One of the problems is that we just don't know where to begin. After all, the Bible (at least on the surface) is pretty clear, right? Homosexuality is an abomination. It says so right in Leviticus. But actually, it's not as clear as you've likely been led to believe. In fact, when Scripture is translated, interpreted, and applied correctly, it is impossible to conclude that homosexuality is sinful, or that members of the LGBT+ community are hellbound.
This may seem like a bold claim to make; but trust, the evidence is there. It simply takes time, and the difficult task of objectivity, to uncover it. After all, we have to dig through generations of bad theology and preconceived ideas about what the Bible does and doesn't say.
The good news is that as time progresses, more and more scholars and theologians are doing the hard work. They're revisiting the biblical texts without the anti-gay bias most of us have been conditioned to hold, and they're discovering that the Bible not only doesn't condemn homosexuality, but actually makes a pretty strong case that same-sex marriage is absolutely consistent with biblical principles and teachings.
This is why the iAffirm Virtual Symposium was conceived--to present you with the biblical case for affirmation. And this isn't just a surface-level, "God loves everyone", message. This is in-depth biblical teachings that walk you through every text traditionally believed to condemn homosexuality. This is what the Church, and the world have so desperately needed.
Don't let this opportunity for enlightenment slip through your fingers! Register now and change your life, and the life of those around you!
Don't miss a part of this life-changing teaching.
NOTE: All times are Central Standard (CST).
One of the most common attacks that traditionalist Christians lob against the LGBT+ community is that God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah because of their supposed homosexuality. But is this really true? Learn the real story about these infamous sister-cities (pun absolutely intended).
Often quoted without much understanding of the surrounding context, or the meaning of words used in the text, these two verses are a favorite among people seeking to condemn homosexuality. Unfortunately, they missed the point of the text.
Here's what Christian leaders are saying...
Thank you, Pastor Romell, for your wisdom, courage and strength! You have made a difference in my life, and paved a way for me as a Black lesbian minister of the gospel.
Rev. Dr. Dionne T. Boyice, (ABD), MDiv, BSW
This is a critically important topic, and Pastor Romell is an excellent guide. His work continues to help many by bringing much needed clarity to this theological debate.
As the mom of an LGBTQ child, I found Pastor Romell's teachings invaluable. He proves biblically what we know in our hearts--God does not condemn the LGBTQ community.
Pastor Romell is a gifted teacher. I always appreciate how he's able to challenge my assumptions while remaining steadfastly committed to the integrity of Scripture.
Religion is deeply rooted in the soul of LGBTQIA Black people. I'm excited that Pastor Romell will liberate many from the traditional lies about homosexuality.
I have relied on Pastor Romell's wealth of knowledge about Scripture and God's character. I look forward to gleaning more insights from his teachings.
